(written sometime before february 19, 2012, after I watched Datalore for the first (and only, so far) time.)

Lore’s Poem

I was too much like them for
their own comfort

Because I was human but better than
human they were afraid

Because of who I was, they were
afraid

They asked for one less “perfect.”
How could I not become bitter?

They made you, Data, someone they
could feel comfortable around

Comfortable in their own individuality—
in their superiority over a mere machine

So they asked for you, Data—
and I was left to rot.
