National Poetry Month: The Man Trap

Stardate 1513.1

The Man Trap

Hey, said the Salt-Vampire,
want to go out?
I can be your heart’s desire
all you have to do is die for
it. You humans have such salt—
don’t be scared—it’s not your fault,
and soon you will feel…nothing.

The Man Trap:
(from the point of view of Dr. McCoy)

When we looked into her eyes,
it's like we were hypnotized,
but she was a monster in truth,
that killed a portion of us,
one by one,
taking the salt from our bodies so we lay there,
dead,
for others to find.
Not quite the lady we'd thought her to be,
yet I had thought at first I loved her,
so why did the one that killed her, have to be me?
